"We hope to have created a place of calm, away from the bustle of London,
somewhere that respects and is in tune with nature and positive living”.
- Laura Boglione -
Just a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of Richmond and walking down what feels distinctly like a country lane we finally paid a visit to Petersham Nurseries.
The nursery is very much a family business, and the driving force behind the development of the Nursery is attributed to the Boglione family’s eldest daughter, Laura.
At first glance, as you enter and pass through rows of plants and pots it seems you’ve stepped back in time to a wonderful, Victorian garden centre but take a closer look and you also realise that as well as the plants and flowers for sale, the items displayed on garden tables and sideboards are a sensitively curated and eclectic mix of highly covetable furniture, accessories and gifts.
The setting itself creates a wonderful backdrop for the home and garden wares, add to this the delicious lunches and teas, eaten in one of the nostalgic conservatories, and we could happily have whiled away an entire afternoon.
Much of the produce and ingredients for the menus is direct from Haye Farm in Somerset which is run by Laura’s brother Harry.
The items are a treasure trove, lovingly sourced from around the world, and includes everything from pots to chandeliers, mirrors, candles, ceramics, hats, and furniture, much of which is antique. Here are a few of our favourite things ...
Petersham Nurseries recently expanded to include Floral Court in Covent Garden, offering the same air of balanced calm and a sense of nature in the heart of London.
